It was affirmed by some historians that the history of America was the history of reformation. With the tradition of social reformation, among all kinds of crusades in American history, the Prohibition Movement which lasted for more than one hundred years from the beginning to the climax, is standing out just like a glitter flower. Thousands of Americans joined in the Prohibition Movement passionately. The 18th amendment became effective in 1919 and it was abolished in 1933. More and more people continually think about the Prohibition Movement which experienced from rise to decline in order to get some experience and revelation. It is helpful for us to get more information about American society and the social effects of some social reformation.Nowadays, as we know that it is impossible to give up drinking habit completely no matter in theory or in practice. However, as one of the most important historical event, the Prohibition Movement is worth researching although the Volstead Act was abolished finally. From points of view, the range and the influence of the Prohibition Movement was not only limited in itself, but mixed with many complicated social factors. It is also an angle of viewing American society. The Prohibition Movement is the outcome of the changing society of America and promoted the advancement of American history. In that case, it is significant to further the studying of American history and the related social problems. In addition, it is also meaningful for us to understand the American society and the function of kinds of social reformation. Besides, it is obligatory for scholars who study in the filed of American history to research the domain of the Prohibition Movement more.
