Executive function and its development become popular among the research of the international development psychology. The researchers usually use false-belief understanding to estimate a child whether obtain theory of mind. In most of time, the standard false-belief tasks are used to estimate a child whether understand false-belief. However, false-belief understanding contains the ability to pass the standard false-belief tasks and the ability to explain the false-belief-based actions. We examined 3- to 5-year-old children's understanding of their own and another's false beliefs in two experiments using diverse deceptive box task and false-belief-based actions task. Under the condition of this study, the conclusions are as follows:1. 3- to 5-year-old children can't use false belief to explain their own or other's false-belief-based actions.2. In the deceptive box task ,no significant difference was found between self-understanding and understanding of other's false belief. In the false-belief-based actions task, the same result was obtained.3. Children who were able to retrieve their or other's false belief can't use false belief to explain their or other's false-belief-based actions. This research examined how children explain false-belief-based actions and addressing this issue would contribute to an understanding of an important facet of young children's theory of mind. The present thesis approved the differentiation between children's ability to pass the standard false-belief tasks and the ability to explain the false-belief-based actions. This result is consistent with the life-span orientation of research on theory of mind. This research in the domain of children's theory of mind should be expanded.
