The Tang Dynasty' s laws played an important role in the history of legal system in China. This period' s laws achieved so much that it posed an important status in the formation of law system in China history. On behalf of the China' s ancient codes, the Tang Code was one of the most mature one in China. It facilitated the governor to maintain its reign, and became the chief source referred by the past dynasties in their legislation. Accordingly, the research about Tang Dynasty' s laws is so flourishing that more and more books and theses are continually published. But it is a pity that there are few studies about the martial laws, let alone some expert treatise. So it is necessary to classify and summarize the Tang Dynasty' s martial rules of law, and this paper tries to manage this object. This paper is trying to introduce the Tang Dynasty' s martial laws systematically by tracing how these laws were applied in practice. Comparing the difference between the laws in anterior and mid-posterior periods, this paper also discusses the Tang martial laws separately in these two periods and accounts for its transformation as a whole.
