| During Wei & Jin time, when lyric fu was flourishing, the prosperous appearance of beauty-themed fu was an indispensable literary phenomenon. From the theme and content point of view, beauty-themed fu expressed the determined pursue of the writers for ideas by the description of men chasing after women, and also reflected the emotional and personal thoughts and trends during Wei & Jin time. While from the artistic point of view, the gaudiness shown in beauty-themed fu reflected the basic character of Wei & Jin time as an era of literary consciousness. Starts from the artistic conception of admiration mentioned by Qian Zhongshu, the essay analyzes the mental process and essence of the chase towards ideas of writers displayed under the system of beauty-themed fu, including the sorrow brought by admiration, the affects caused by blocks or barriers and the multi-affect of dreams, and thereby discussed the art attributes of embellish beauty and emotions of beauty-themed fu. At the same time, the essay extended its horizon to such literary styles as poem, ci, novels and etc. and attempted to find out the ideal tradition and spiritual meanings of beauty-themed literature. Conclusions was made that the image of beauty represents the ideal personality and sentiment, and was the common woo of beauty-themed literature. Among them, aulic poems and foppish ci in Dang & Song Dynasty made it frippery, while erotic novels in Ming & Qing Dynasty pushed such ideal to a more practicaland mundane stage, so as to realize the compensatory function of admiration.The beauty-themed fu was the most splendid chapter ever among all beauty-themed literature in history. |
