In the aspect of the regional social cultural history and from the view of association, this article analyzes Wang Shizhen's activities during his five years, from 1660 to 1665 in Yangzhou when he acted as an outlander, literator and the official but born in Xincheng County (Huantai today), Jinan Prefecture, Shandong Province, addressed respectfully as poem master in the early Qing Dynasty. During that time, Wang Shizhen not only did his work well—holding the official position in Yangzhou, but also toured in Suzhou, Nanjing and other Jiangnan resorts at his after-hours, meanwhile, he associated with many famous poets, intellectuals and adherents of Ming Dynasty in the Jiangnan Area. In the process of contacting the scenery and associating with these characters, Wang Shizhen was gradually accepted and confirmed by this area, while his various necessities were also satisfied by the Jiangnan multiple cultures such as these in Soochow, Nanjing and Yangzhou areas. These association activities brought him the identity and sense of belongingness of Jiangnan cultures. Moreover we attempt to analyze the identity about individual to regional culture via the case of Wang Shizhen, and try to enrich the area social cultural studies.
