The paper is to discuss Benjamin's theory of Art Production. Since Karl Marx's founding of the aesthetic view of Art Production, Benjamin, one of representative figures of the West Marxism at the early stage, has further elucidated the theory mixed with the characteristics of times and his creative thought, which has made great contributions to the construction of Marx's Art Production.The paper will deal with Benjamin's theory from three aspects. Chapter One is to brief its theoretical resources of Benjamin's theory of Art Production from Marxism chronologically. It will also be discussed that Karl Marx's Art Production has many influences upon Benjamin's construction of his own theory in this chapter.In Chapter Two, analysis of Benjamin's theory of Art Production is made from the aspects of the writers as producer, Art Production in era of mechanical reproduction and in modern times. This part has expounded the history of its formation, existence and development, and its significance. The motif of its politic criticism has been revealed. In Chapter Three, based on Benjamin's theory, is to make an exposition on the change that art in modern society has brought about to the relation among the mass, presenting us affirmative utterance and overturned model of Mass Culture, while main trend of integrated model in Frankfurt school has a different voice.Benjamin's Art Production has interpreted and analysed the existence and development of the modern art in a subjective way and with far-reaching significance. His systematic elucidation and theoretical framework have provided us with enlightenment of how we should look at modern art.
