The studies on asymmetry in Chinese are carried out concentratedly on the grammar level, a few are on the lexical level, through giving examples, most of them don't give comprehensive and systemic description and further explanation on these phenomena. The paper tries to study the asymmetry of antonym in Chinese from the perspective of lexical semantics and on the basic of markedness theory. Our study scope is the monosyllable antonym group "Hao-Huai". We observe their asymmetry on two levels: syntactic and morphological, namely the asymmetry in word collocation as words and in word-formation as morphemes. This paper summarizes the rules and characteristics and analyzes the reason of asymmetry. We also analyze the errors in Chinese inter-language in order to providing some practical suggestions for the vocabulary teaching in TCFL (Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language). The dissertation includes three main parts:The first part explores the combination of antonym group "Hao-Huai" on the syntax level of modern Chinese. The second part explores the word-formation of antonym group "Hao-Huai" as morphemes on the morphology level. The third part explores the combination of antonym "Hao-Huai" in Chinese inter-language.This paper tries to take the method of comparison that made between syntax and morphology, synchronic and diachronic, as well as Chinese and inter-language and want to provide a new perspective for the studies on asymmetry in Chinese. We comprehensively review the combination situation of antonym group "Hao" and "Huai" on syntax and morphology levels, analyze the reason for this phenomena and try to cover the shortage of previous Chinese vocabulary studies, in addition, analyze the mistakes of "Hao" and "Huai" in inter-language. We hope this paper can do some help for vocabulary teaching in TCSL and provide some foundation for the improvement of examples and explanation of antonym in textbooks.
