The Study On Enculturation Of Islam In Xinjiang

The paper defines Islam of Xinjiang starting with the concept of"enculturation", analyzes the process and the characteristics of the enculturation of Islam in Xinjiang. In this paper, the specific representations of the enculturation of Islam in Xinjiang are also discussed. In the end, the paper analyzes the reasons of formation of Xinjiang Islam.The part one discusses"Xinjiang Islam", which is the combination of Islam culture and the cultures of Xinjiang original nationalities. In order to comprehensively understand"Xinjiang Islam", the problem of how to view the position of Xinjiang Islam in China culture is also discussed in this part.The process and the characteristics of the enculturation of Islam in Xinjiang are discussed in part two. Islam in Xinjiang experienced three stages: the primal transmission, the development and the formation of Xinjiang Islam. During this course, the relationship of Islam and cultures of Xinjiang original nationalities developed from"complete separation"to"harmonious mixture".Part three discusses the cultural characteristics which are showed during the process of enculturation of Islam in Xinjiang from four aspects: The Sufis group, Islam buildings in Xinjiang, religious behaviours, the central level.Part four discusses the reasons of the enculturation of Islam in Xinjiang. The last part is the summary.
