Ren Bonian is an outstanding painter in Chinese modern painting history. And he is also a great master of Chinese flower-and-bird painting who inherits the past and ushers in the future. He is good at absorbing the essence from the traditional and folk arts. Especially he mixes Chinese mascots and Chinese flower-and-bird painting together and makes it auspicious which caters for the residents in the developing commercial era. His considerable success in the flower-and-bird painting is worthy of further researching. The paper stresses on concluding the mascots in his flower-and-bird paintings.The paper consists of four parts:This paper divides the mascots in Ren Bonian's flower-and-bird paintings into four parts, including plants, animals, implements and auspicious objects and analyses the assembly of the mascots in his flower-and-bird paintings from the aspect of implied meaning. It analyses and researches the origins and the characters of the mascots and the concrete uses in Ren Bonian's flower-and-bird paintings through image analysis, literature analysis and comparative research. So that we can understand the real reason and connotation which RenBonian's paintings appeal to all.
