The modern Chinese poem appeared in 90's with its new beauty characteristic and expression was different from its old form, thus the word narration was included in the popular criticism vocabulary and used to describe the vital poetry phenomenon. Hopefully, by carefully studying the concept, my essay could present the interior and exterior difference between modern Chinese poem in 90's and former Chinese poem.In the preface part, the concept and esthetics characteristic of 90's modern Chinese poem is put forward, with an inquiry into recount the reason of narrative occurrence.The first part is dedicated to the discussion of the basic form of the narration of modern Chinese poem in 1990s, which expresses tremendous concern over the daily life in a seemingly objective and dispassionate way. The narrative poetry of 90's adopts an illustrative language form and attaches more attention to the delicate details and process while integrating various features of prose, essay, novel, drama to present a diversiform of poetry.The third part is mainly a comparison between of the verse of narrative and traditional epic poetry, from 80's to the 90's, with the intention to shed more light on the narrative characteristics of 90's modern Chinese poem. The traditional epic poetry generally recounts acomplete story or molds a hero as a whole while the story of modern Chinese narrative poetry in the 1990s is more fragmental, serving its sentimental purpose;Compared with the verse of 80's, it pays attention to cheerless even solid description of daily life to embody thinking distance. The conclusion part carries on a study to the shortcomings and existing problems which narrative poetry possesses. Also, it points out modern Chinese poetry's possible prosperity, including narrative poetry, lyricism and drama.
