Isikawa Tatsuzo is a famous realistic writer in contemporary Japan. He writes a lot of works in his life. The description of a series of women's fate makes up the fundamental frame upon which he portrays the social reality. Meanwhile, it also reflects his contradictory view on women. By way of description of those unfortunate women's fate, Isikawa Tatsuzo makes a severe disclosure and critique about the cultural tradition of male hegemonism in Japanese society. Furthermore, he also expresses heartfelt sympathy for those women in difficult position. Isikawa Tatsuzo knows that women face a dilemmatic condition between family and society, he also wants to look for a way for women to exist. All of these express his positive view on women. However, Japan has a very strong conception about male chauvinism. Living in such a country, Isikawa Tatsuzo shows his conservative and backward attitude when he reviews the women's life. For example, he sticks to and safeguards some conceptions about male chauvinism, he even excludes and slanders the liberation for women's rights. All of these express Isikawa Tatsuzo's negative view on women. This thesis makes a more systematic analysis and exploration about Isikawa Tatsuzo's contradictory view on women with four parts:Part 1: make disclosure and critique about cultural conception of malechauvinism;Part 2: show sympathy for women in sexual oppression;Part 3: reveal visual angle and language of male chauvinism;Part 4: inquiry on formation of Isikawa Tatsuzo's contradictory viewon women.
