Work of Baudelaire as a poet serving as a link between the past and futuregeneration, shows profound complexity, contradictions and richness. In this paper, theliterature research method and the method of intensive reading of texts are used to explorethe research status at home and abroad for Baudelaire’s literary outlook. An analyticalinvestigation is made of Baudelaire’s literary outlook based on his poems, rather thanmerely based on his works of literary and art criticism. Innovation of this paper is thatbased on a macroscopic understanding of Baudelaire’s literary outlook, contradication andpursuit of eternity hidden his literary works are identified. On the basis of an introduction to definitions given by Baudelaire to romanticism andromanticism factors and Baudelaire’s attitudes towards romanticist writers, research ismade on the relationship between Baudelaire and romanticism and the conclusion thatBaudelaire has selectively inherited romanticism.Baudelaire’s moral outlook is analyzed based on his views on the nature and purposeof poems and discussion of the traditional and modern moral outlooks. From Baudelaire’sunderstanding and rebellion of the theory of the origin sin in Christianity, his religiousoutlook is analyzed. His outlook on female is uncovered from his descriptions ofelaborations of different females in his poems and life and his classification of femaleimages. On this basis, contradictions among the religious outlook, moral outlook andoutlook on female of Baudelaire are proposed.Research is made on the literary rhetoric outlook of Baudelaire in terms of the theoryof correspondences and oxymoron. The theory of correspondence is divided into threeaspects. On this basis, it is concluded that Baudelaire’s theory of correspondences enricheshis aesthetic outlook. Moreover, a comparison is made between the oxymoron ofBaudelaire and contrastive rhetoric of Hugo to show that the oxymoron reflects the dual character of Baudelaire.Interpretations are made of the modern concepts of Baudelaire in terms of time andspace as two dimensions. It is noted that the modern concepts are outcome of thecontradictory and unified dialectic process between modernity and eternity and the“Pastoral” and “Anti-pastoral”.In the process of analyzing its contradictions, an analysis is made of objective factorsof Baudelaire such as the growth factors, the time factor and so on. Moreover, great effortsare made to dissect subjective factors such as self-remodeling and self-conscious pursuit,to figure out that the complex literary outlook of Baudelaire are the outcome of the jointefforts of self-pursuit and the context of his era.
