The Tales of YingLian is written by Liang Zhangju, the great master in the circle of YingLian in Qing Dynasty during the period of "Dao Guang "(1821 — 1850). This book is the first work in the literary history of Chinese YingLian as well as a tale of YingLian of theoretical significance and value in the ancient history of Chinese theories of literature. The detailed study of Tales of YingLian with substantial and plentiful content is from the poetic point of view. The paper is divided into 6 chapters. The first chapter is to give a brief introduction of Liang's life story and his enormous works. The second chapter is to analyze the cause to the writing of the book, both objective and subjective. There are four objective causes including the prosperous of composing of YingLian in Qing Dynasty, the effect of YingLian theory before this time, the inspiration of tales of poetry, Ci poetry and essay and the powerful assist of his relatives and friends. There are also four subjective causes consisting of the family backgrourd with profound learning, favourable education by prominent teachers, wide-raging social intercourse and the awareness of being concerned aboat the society.Chapter3 is to dissect Liang's view on the origin of YingLian and its subbranches, which shows that the YingLian's origin should date back more earlier years than "WuDai"(934-960). And it is the Tang Dynacty that is the emerging time of YingLian, when it is regarded as an independent literarystyle.Chapter 4 is to discuss the theory of classifying YingLian. The analysis denotes that Liang uses his multi-criterion to classify the YingLian, which makes a bad effect on the theory's accuracy and scientific nature. But under that specific historical condition, the theory is of extraordinary value and significance, as it is the first time to categorize voluminous YingLian works in the literary history of Chinese tales of YingLian.Chapter 5 mainly reveals Liang's ways and principles of composing of YingLian. He poses 3 ways of composing: creating by onesetf, "Jiju"(rearrange the proper existing sentences to be a set of YingLian), Sole writing or cooperative writing, and 4 principles of writing: renovation, the "four necessity" in wording, the "two principle" in describing the scenery and advocating "reveals affection unintentionally".Chapter 6 is to offer an understanding that the book is not a simple collection rather than the author's criticals on the selected YingLian basing on rich experience of composing of YingLian.Liang's aesthetic criteras on appreciating YingLian is multiple, the most important one among which is "Gong and Qie", "Gong" is the requirement in form, that is "symmetry and neatness";"Qie" is the requirement in contant, that means to let the content coincide with the title or the object of writing. The first two chapters are "external study", while the rest of the paper are "internal study". Both of them are unified and come into a systematized entity.
