Phonetic Research Of Huitong Dialect In Hunan Province

Huitong county locates southwest of Hunan province and south of Huaihua, and it also locates on the cross-area of Hunan province and Guizhou province. Transportation there is occlusive. In this research, I've done comprehensive field investigation and grasped many first-hand materials. I delineate phonetics of Huitong dialect( Xiaohe area), and provide the syllabery and a comparing table of ancient and current phonetics and other detailed philological materials. Furthermore, I discuss some important phonetic issues, such as the evolvement of the initials of "Zhi-Zhang"(知章 ) , literal and colloquial pronunciation. Huitong locates cross-area of Xiang groups and Southwest Mandarin, and dialect belongingness is under dispute. In this article, I lay emphases on phonetics of Huitong dialect (Xiaohe area), and I not only introduce the inner difference of Huitong dialect, but also compare it with Xiang dialect and Southwest Mandarin. Finally, I put forward my opinions on belongingness and cause of Huitong dialect.This dissertation is divided into five chapters, which are:Chapter One introductionThis chapter introduces the geography, history, population and language of Huitong, and it also introduce the research situation of Huitong dialect and the value of this dissertation.Chapter Two phonetic system of Huitong dialect (Xiaohe area) and its phonological characterIn this chapter I discuss Huitong dialect (Xiaohe area) on phonological and intonation system, the cooperating law of phonology and intonation, intonation character, the phenomena of literal and colloquial pronunciation, and I compile the syllabery.Chapter Three the inner difference of Huitong dialect.Chapter Fur the initials of "Zhi-Zhang"(知章) of Huitong dialect.Chapter Five the belongingness of Huitong dialect.In this chapter, I compare Huitong dialect with Xiang groups and Southwest Mandarin, and finally I put forward my own opinion that Huitong dialect belongs to Xiang groups.Chapter Six the cause of Huitong dialect.
