Lei Tie-ya was an important press propagandist and bourgeois-democratic revolutionist during the period of the 1911 revolution. He took the news enterprise as the position for a long time and devoted himself to the revolutionary cause. He also made conspicuous contribution in the ideological front, and formed his systematic thought. Compared with other revolutionists of his era, his thought had many distinctive qualities.This article outlines Lei Tie-ya 's lifetime, which he took the news enterprise as the front and went in for the revolutionary activities. And mainly probing into him from the following three respects. First begins with his propaganda practice, and discusses his publication activity from several stages;subsequently elaborates his thoughts which refracts in the propaganda practice;finally carries on the appraisal to his propaganda activity and the content.The first chapter divides Lei Tie-ya's propaganda activities into three stages. The first stage is the early writing advocate, the second is a stage that his writing had the most actual effect, and the third tells his propaganda activity after the Nanjing Provisional Government had been established. Among which the article concerntrates on talking about his brilliant contribution during the period he edited the 《Brilliance Daily paper》.The second chapter focuses on discussing Lei Tie-ya's anti-feudal democratic revolution thought, anti-imperialism and patriotic thought, and moral salvation. Of these thoughts, the last one can reflect his uniqueness about seeking the way of saving the nation.The third appraises Lei Tie-ya's revolutionary propaganda activities.One part elaborates the characteristic of his practice, and the other focuses on the distinguishing feature of his thoughts' contents. Prominently unfolded one side that he publicized nationalism thoroughly. Finally, the conclusion part summarizes Lei Tie-ya's lifetime and his characteristic, and abstains a result that he belonged to the tragic character of his era.
