To Apply Chinese Traditional Courtyard Into Modern Interior Design

Courtyard's importance cannot be ignored as an oasis in a building. It has been an independent object while it has been more valued. Thereupon, it's natural peculiarity and cultural peculiarity or more sides are more studied by designers.The other side, Chinese courtyard history is very long and has been a part of people's culture heritage with its natural style.What our designers have to do is enhancing and bringing forth new ideas into traditional courtyard on the base of inheriting it. This thesis discusses about how to bring nature into interior and bring tradition into modern by analyzing Chinese traditional courtyard and Chinese classical landscaping, thereby, to research how to inherit and enhance our traditional courtyard culture. The thesis analyses the connotation and characteristic of Chinese traditional courtyard and contrasted the characteristic between domestic courtyard and overseas courtyard. With many concrete examples and pictures, it analyses present development of courtyard in the world and summarized the experience of how the overseas designers inherit their tradition. Integrating many practices of designing courtyard, I try to summarize some designing methods which can fit domestic economical condition and provide some reference on courtyard design, thereupon, to push Chinese courtyard forward the world.
