Analysing Levi-Strauss' Structuralistic Method And Its Application

Levi-Strauss is a cultural anthropologist and structuralism master who applies the method of structuralism to analyse the social culture phenmenon at first. He used the model of structuralism linguistics to study the question of anthropology that opened a new direction for study of sociology and anthropology. His method of structuralism is a methodology of hermeneutics which can promote culture of human to a unified understanding. This essay considers Levi-Strauss'Savage thinking as original version and makes an overall analysis in three chapter of his structuralistic method and its application. This paper focuses on taking out his structuralistic method, shows its application and correct his comment of against-humanist. Chapter one refers to background and thought origin of produce of Levi-Strauss'structuralistic method, emphasizing the great influence of Saussure's the model of structuralism linguistics, Marxist'theory about social and the social conscilusness and Freud's psychoanalysis on Levi-Strauss'method of Structuralism. Chapter two expounds Levi-Strauss'structuralistic method and useing,reveal out the meaning of its intension through the analysis to the culture phenomenon of primitive society (about relative's relation , totem and mythology) and announce an attempt of Levi-Strauss who wants to build a knowledge unity on the basis of "structure". Chapter three refers to completely understanding of Levi-Strauss'structuralism thought, we attempt to correct a comment which the domestic and international scholars treat Levi-Strauss as a completely against-humanist in various degree.
