The Discuss On Some Respects Of Guo Moruo's Historiography Thought

The historiography thought is that a historian is cognitive to the objective historical process and history one's own theory. Often the influenced historiography forms the main ideological trend of historiography development of a certain times or period and plays promotion or restriction function to historiography development. The historiography thought of the historians of the same school or the same era often demonstrates distinct theory generality and basic characteristic. It's content is abundant and the field involved is extensive. At the beginning of the new century , reviewing the development of Chinese historiography of the 20th century ,studying the historians of different school especially Marxism historian's historiography in a systematical and all-round way, summarizing experience and keeping the lesson in mind in order to link the past to the future, is the historical workers'duty-bound task. Guo Moruo (1892—1978), whose native is Leshan of Sichuan, is not only the older generation Marxism historian of our country but also the pioneer and one of the seekers of Chinese Marxism history. He is the head of the most famous five experts of Chinese Marxism historiography (Guo Moruo,Fan Wenlan, Lv Zhenyu, Jian Bozan, Hou Wailu). There are a lot of academic research fields that Guo Moruo involves in all his life. Among them, in his distinctive historiography research, Guo Mo-ruo carried on the deep discussion to a lot of historiography theoretical questions, which is a sum of valuable wealth and promote the establishment and development of historiography of Marxism of our country. Guo Moruo has remarkable many works in his life. His Masterpieces of historiography are as follows: "The study of Chinese ancient society", "The study of inscriptions on bones or tortoise shells", "The study of the posy on bronze ware of Yin Dynasty and Zhou Dynasty", "Ten animadvert books", "Bronze age", "The slavery era", "Historical personage", "Li Bai and Du Fu", "The obit of the rustic war in Ming Dynasty", "Reversing a verdict for Cao Cao",etc. Besides ,there are many famous historical as "Qu Yuan", "Cai Wenji", "Wu Zetian", etc. These works are contained in "The corpora of Guo Moruo". I find Guo Mo-ruo's historiography thought is abundant and erudite through reading relevant materials. But the study on his historiography is still be scrappy, which has much on recommend and little on comment. It fail to well show all styles and features of Guo Mo-ruo's historiography thought, such as the course, main achievement , main characteristic and defect and reason existing of its development .In the upsurge of "reviewing"in recent years, some suggestion queried and denied to Guo Mo-ruo's scholastic attainment and academic character. This seems more urgent to carry on systematical and overall studying on Guo Mo-ruo's historiography thought. Under the guidance of my teacher, I consult the research results of the older generation of historiography, regard materialist conception of history of Marxism as guidelines, take seeking truth from facts as the principle, , use many kinds of research approaches, and expound and study Guo Mo-ruo's historiography thought in an all-round way. on the basis of occupying a large number of materials The first part of the article introduce Guo Mo-ruo's historiography research career briefly by using the full and accurate historical data in order to show the orbits and main historiography achievements of Guo Mo-ruo's historiography thought development. The second part of the article expounds and comment to Guo Mo-ruo's historiography thought. It is the emphases of this text. It mainly from this six aspects: the criticism and inheritting of China's traditional culture and non—Marxism historiography, using the materialist conception of history of Marxism to open up the study on ancient society of China, discussion of evaluation criterion on historical personage,discussion of the war issue of ancient peasants of China,Use the discussion of the question to the historical data,discussion on the relationship of the historical play and historiography. This part introduces the main intension of Guo Mo-ruo's historiography thought and affirm his achievement. The third part of the article summarize the main characteristic of Guo Mo-ruo's historiography research as follow:permeated with strong patriotic spirit and sense of the times all the time, dare to open up and has the distinctive original trait, carrying on the self-criticism and self-perfection constantly, adopted the multiple research approach under the guidance of materialist conception of history;the literature and history is luxuriant , the feeling blends intelligently. The fourth part of article is to summarize research suggestion that query Guo Mo-ruo's historiography achievement and academic character in the past 20 years. By the principle of seeking truth from fact, this text affirm Guo Mo-ruo's achievement, probing into defect and reason of Guo Mo-ruo's historiography study, and has put forward the deliberate with several suggestions of denying Guo Mo-ruo's historiography achievement in internal and abroad. In a word, this text has deep discussion with many angles to study to Guo Mo-ruo's historiography thought, and trys to exhibit its intension and mien. It can not only probe into Guo Mo-ruo's historiography thought deeply , more three-dimensionally but also offer my own suggestion of the summary and introspection of Chinese Marxism historiography of the 20th century. It will be help to summarize experience, keep the lesson in mind , link the past to the future, and create new refulgence to the historiography of our country in the new century.
