J.M. Coetzee may be the most complicated and the most creative writer of South African. Most of his works, not only for the Realism but also the Modernism and the Post-modernism, are extremely rich in morals and edification. As a white writer, J.M. Coetzee feels confused and disgusted because of his white man's identity. He is unwilling to be connected with the colonialism regime of South Africa, unwilling to be connected with the bitter and sorrowful history of colonialism of South Africa, but he cannot get rid of his complexion. So that J.M. Coetzee has to change the style of his writing. In his works, he resists the narration of colonialism, tries to speak in marginalisation and week voice, and tries to refract out the great injury caused by colonialism from the point of view of the weak's desolate and miserable situation. This thesis discusses how Coetzee melt the human nature, sexuality and the other factors together into the narration of history. In J.M.Coetzee's works, sexuality is no longer a kind of pornographic description, but is endowed with a connotation of spirit and society which refracts out the people's loneliness and tortuoseness under South Africa's complicated social environment. On the other hand, sexuality is also contacted with historical circumstances of South Africa and becomes an important means to reflect social circumstances, which reveals the contradictions and conflicts among power, culture and moral in the history and reality of South Africa. Meanwhile, by weakening the sexuality narration, Coetzee examined closely the empire from the point of view of the weak and sneered at the authority of the empire strongly. As a writer with great conscience, J.M. Coetzee pays great attention to the social situation of South Africa and the existence state of the people of South Africa. This influences his writing a lot. He animadverts on human nature and connects history and responsibility, civilization and wildness, body and violence. He calls upon all the people to open their own soul wide, to show the sympathy and understanding to all living things, and to pay attention to the weak. Only in this way, can we envisage thehistory, and can we deal with the contradictions and conflicts among country, race and nationality. So J.M.Coetzee's works have great value in ethnics.
