| In some sense, Can Xue is a philosopher. She expresses her attitudes toward human beings by her novels. All of her novels reveal the living condition of human beings and teach us how to face it. In my viewpoint, the objective and spiritual existences are her novels' whole content. This paper just analyses her novels from the two aspects.Can Xue holds the point that the objective existence of human being is just an inherent tragical existence, and the spiritual existence includes tragical spirit and overcoming spirit. So this paper discusses them in three parts.Part I The man's existence is an inherent tragical existence, which represents as fantasy, nihility, loneliness and the inherent schiz and antinomy of human nature.Part II The show of the tragical spirit. All the characters in her novels are full of enthusiasm. They pursue those which are unattainable and fantastic crazily. And they insist on their own souls and personalities under the pressure and alienation of the collective ideas. They continuously negate, overcome and perfect themselves in their life. They are exhausted, but never give it up. All of these show a typical tragical spirit.Part III The embodiment of overcoming spirit. The overcoming spirit embodies the survival wisdom. It shows that the man use self-conscious action to antagonize the existing fantasy and easy the pain and hopelessness, and watch the whole world with a dialectic eye. So they find the unification and harmony from antinomy. |
