This author roundly studies the verbs in YanTieLun based on semantic meaning and grammar. There are some discoveries about the developing characteristics of verbs from Xi-Han Dynasty to Tang Dynasty then Ming Dynasty through comparing YanTieLun, DunHuang Bianwen and JinPingMei. The thesis consists of four parts:Firstly, the general situation of the verbs in YanTieLun. There are 1242 verbs and the 1004 monosyllables have absolute predominance made up 80.9 percent of all verbs. The 238 polysyllables just occupies 19.1 percent.Secondly, the research of semantic meaning of the verbs in YanTieLun. It includes semantic classes, distribution of meaning items, original meaning and the means of extending word-meaning, synonyms and antonyms. The semantic meaning of the verbs in YanTieLun is all-inclusive. It illuminates that the verbs of YanTieLun retain more ancient meanings because the monosyllables used original meaning hold about half of all monosyllables. They inherit characteristics of the preceding stage and become the developing base of the latter periods. The synonym and antonym of verbs are very rich and the relationships between synonym and antonym are complicated.Thirdly, the research of grammar of the verbs in YanTieLun.
