An Investigation And Study About High School Students Reading And Understanding The Article Of Mixing Korean And Chinese Characters

There are many kinds of debates on the use of Chinese characters. This happened not only in China where Chinese characters are being used, but also in other countries where Chinese characters are currently being used or the Chinese characters were used in the past. For the minority Chinese people in our country, we abolished the literary form of the mixing use of Korean characters and Chinese characters since 1953, and carried out the monopoly use of the Korean characters in the Korean epistolary style. In the observation to the 50 years when the abolishing of the mixed use of Korean and Chinese characters, and the monopoly use of the Korean characters, we found many debates on the monopoly use and mixed use of the two kinds of characters. Especially in the last 20 years, with the reform and opening up of our country and the more frequent exchange with foreign countries, in our country's Korean society, there are many violate debates on the monopoly use or mixed use of Korean characters, and the debate becomes sharper and sharper. The debate is not only related to the academic field or the relevant units, but also is related to the government offices.For a nation, the use of a literary form is an important question which has strong relations to a nation's politics, economy, culture, whatever the history andthe present, this also has strong relations to the prosperity and development of a nation. Thus, we should research and discuss this question deeply with a more conscientious attitude, and we need an investigation to the mass on the feasibility of the use of the two epistolary styles.Now, there are many kinds of investigations and articles related to the question. There are also many kinds of debates on the Korean national's Chinese characters experiment after the mixed use of the both characters. But there aren't any practical, vast area investigation to the mass. We have only found the investigation carried by the China Social Science Institute's Language Institute on Jul 8, 2000, the topic is the insists of the monopoly use and mixed use of the both characters.In this article, through the practical investigation with the topic of "High School Students' Ways of Reading Korean and Chinese Mixed Characters Articles, and Their Understanding Degree to the Articles", the author grasped the key points, discussed in details about if there will be any problems on the reading of the mixed characters articles by the high school students, should they use this kind of literary form in the future, expressed the view of the author, and the view will be helpful for the future further research to this topic.
