A Study Of Characters In Popular Formin The Notes Of Song Dynasty

There are many characters in popular form and interrelated cultural activities recorded in the literati's Note of Song dynasty, which is a special text of colloquial style. This thesis takes them as the object of study. Hopefully it may provide some new materials for Chinese philology, and be helpful for the scientific researches on the evolvement, reformation and standardization of Chinese characters.This thesis mainly deals with the characters in popular form by the means of synchronic description detailedly in many aspects, such as the definition, the textual research and the theory of subjective interpretation of Chinese characters. At the same time, comparing with the modern characters, this thesis affirms the importance of the characters in popular form in the history of Chinese characters and predicts their destiny.
