Truth Of Being And Truth Of Understanding

In the developing process of western philosophy, the concept of thuth had gradually become a notion which connected with knowledge and cognition. "Accord" became the core of truth, truth was regarded as accord between objects and cognition.Heidegger criticized this view, he pointed out that truth should be a process in which subject and object was unificated. He emphasized the significance of the truthin ancient Greek, and connected it with his ontology------sein. In his opinion, truth wasa process and in the process sein was emerged as it's original nature. Regardless of his early thought, or in his upper thought, Heidegger insisted his pursuit on the truth of sein.Gadamer inherited Heidegger's direction of truth. He started off the persons' basic experience, replied the question "how should understood be possible" and constructed his own ontology. He proposed that truth was a "horizon fusion" process between subject and object. Later, in order to achieve the universality of hermeneutics, Gadaner turned to constructed his practical philosophy. And thus truth of understanding translated from academic lay to practical lay. In his hermeneutics,truth also had a final goal------Good. So, Gadamer's thought on truth had not onlyontological but also ethical significance.After expounding and analyzing their thought on truth, the writer compared their views in three aspects and thinks that, though their theory constructed in different basic, though they had different points in achieving truth, they instantly affirmed truth's original meaning, and constructed truth on their ontological basic.Umdoubtedly, Heidegger and Gadamer's truth thought is a challenge toward traditional truth thought. They endued truth newer and more comprehensive meaning, and enlarged truth's field. While they also thought and explored many kinds of questions and crisis we humen should faced to. This also has important significance to us.
