College Chinese course has experienced the low tide phase, the flourishing phase and the rock bottom phase ever since 1920s when it was set universally as a course throughout universities and colleges in china. Nowadays, college Chinese course is faced up with new opportunities and challenges as the establishment of the new notion of talent aiming at the upgrading of knowledge, ability and capacity at the same time. Due to this reason, the accurate orientation of it turns out to be the critical point for its future incessant development. Based on the questionnaire administered by the National Chinese Teaching and Research Committee, this article summarizes the development of college Chinese course and gathers the information concerning the current status of it in different universities and colleges, and thus makes a scientific analysis accordingly. 1 The development of college Chinese course Changes, namely, the adjustment of schools and departments in1952, the changes and renewal of college courses for bachelor candidates, and the national-wide readjustment for college courses for bachelor candidates for the third time, have brought different impact on and challenges to the development of college Chinese course. 2 The current status of college Chinese course Based on the nature, the orientation, the teaching content, teaching methodologies and the reactions of students of college Chinese course derived form the research of 108 universities and...
