The inverse morphemes word pairs is a particular component of Chinese lexical system,that is, it is constituted by two disyllable compound words characterizing the sameconstitution morpheme and different combination order of morpheme. This type of wordsoriginates long times ago. With the development of times, a great deal of inverse morphemesword pairs promote and exist in modern Chinese. includes 833groups of this type of words.This paper attempts to explore its nature and systematic by way of collecting andcompiling thoroughly, the material of the inverse morphemes word pairs in . To begin with, this paper takes the definition of "morpheme", "morphemeorder"and "words"as the beginning, elaborates their specific categories. On this basis, theinverse morphemes word pairs is categorized explicitly according to meaning, structure andmorphological feature. Then, this paper combines three parts, and then divides eightcomprehensive categories, determine the using characteristics of each inverse morphemesword pairs and further grasp the inner nature of this polymeric system. While exploring itssemantic and lexical levels, this paper also probes superficially on its pragmatic level, namely,its rhetoric result and standard usage.The study of inverse morphemes word pairs has a very important significance to the studyof Chinese vocabulary.
