Women Images In Sketchbooks Of Song Dynasty

The quantity that the sketchbooks spread so far was very considerable in SongDynasty. The authors fully utilized various kinds of information channels ,stretchingthe visual angle to all respects of social life. Because there was not restraints of thestyle and content, they can write down what they saw and heard freely. So the subjectsof the sketchbooks were very extensive, and the authors could describe the womanimages of Song Dynasty of every stratum and different identities . Especially therecord about women of lower stratum among them was more abundant than othertexts. In addition, the style made the sketchbooks become the carriers that authorsexpressed their minds directly , which made'it possible to understand their truethoughts for us.In view of the above-mentioned characteristics of the sketchbook, this thesis hasno intention to research the difference between the record and reality, but attempt toadopt the method of the text analysis, through putting the materials about womanin order and classifying ,to show the women images in the sketchbooks ,and then toanalyse the values of the authors ,namely what attitude they held to the behavior ofwomen of different identities and positions.According to the different living spaces at first, the women images in thesketchbooks are divided into the palace and folk parts, then subdivided further in thelight of position and identity, in order to embody the difference of both stratum andidentity of the women. On this basis , this thesis tries to analyse the authors' womanviews including chastity view and woman role view.
