Lu Ji was not only an important writer in the history of middle ancient literature, but also the first influential writer coming from Wu. It is a relatively newer subject to research Lu Ji starting with the relation between literature and regional culture. Basing on it, this thesis mainly discusses the relation between Wu culture and Lu Ji's psychology, works, association, and exposes the cultural meanings of Lu Ji and his works further. The body comprises three chapters. The first chapter mainly studies Lu Ji's psychology being an official in XiJin Dynasty. In his works, Lu Ji expressed his yearning for home and thirst for returning to home village again and again. Meanwhile, he gave a sincere praise to local condition and customs of Wu. All this showed that Lu Ji had a Wu complex. In the five factors that gave rise to Lu Ji's Wu complex, there were three about to Wu, what was the reason only Lu Ji had a country complex in all the writers of XiJin Dynasty. Besides the country complex, the pursuance of reputation and political achievements was also a component of Lu Ji's psychology, which was closely related to Confucianism tradition of Wu. Though Lu Ji didn't run through Confucianism thoroughly, his thought was restricted by Confucianism all along. The second chapter researches the relation between Wu culture and Lu Ji's works. The leading style of his works was numerous. Besides the development of literature itself, there were three reasons for the formation of this style. Firstly, Lu Ji's complicated creation mentality, which caused by the sharp conflict between the north and the south, made him difficult to express his real emotions directly. Secondly, the feature of Wu Confucianism tradition, being miscellaneous, deep and profound, affected the style of Lu Ji's works. Finally, the pretty and colorful scenery of watery region had an effect on his sensibility to form. Some works of Lu Ji was clean and fresh, which was his another style. It was showed by three aspects. Firstly, Lu Ji described scenes with clean strokes. Secondly, he expressed his feelings naturally and fluently. Finally, his some short poems were brief, but had lingering charm. This style should be a manifestation of Lu Ji's particular temperament which was endued by watery region. In content, being sick for home and thinking philosophical problems when Lu Ji faced water showed his watery region complex fully. In language, Wu dialects and Wuphonology in his works was another obvious evidence that Lu Ji accepted the effect of Wu culture. The third chapter mainly investigates Lu Ji's association. They were mostly outstanding persons coming from Wu who contacted with Lu Ji friendly. They had similar family background and education, remained in regular contact with each other, and had a regional idea of protecting and leading by hand each other, which showed that they had formed a group. As the first Wu intellectuals group entering into central plains, they contributed to Wu culture being recognized by more people. Conclusion reveals Lu Ji's three cultural meanings from the angle of Lu Ji and Wu cultural. Firstly, he was the first influential writer coming from Wu, which marked the rise of Wu culture. Secondly, as the first writer entering the north from the south in the background of collision of different kinds of culture, Lu Ji's tragedy showed the difficulty in the course of culture hybrid when two kinds of culture were unequal. Finally, Lu Ji was an earlier writer who repeatedly stated country complex in his works, and many writers inherited this tradition later.
