It is a tradition in history of philosophy that is discussing selfhood. Physicality and mentality are associated by selfhood, which is embodied in labor and intercourse. Gnome was formed in course of human changing nature and society. It could show that self-concept of Xianqin because it had various and continued entities.In the period of primitive society and XiaShang, clannish and fanning culture was the elementary content, which builded the natural individual. The natural individal was in kindred community, and inseparably depended on the clan and nature. It was no value and significance when the individual separated from the clan.In the beginning people had the notion of animatism, and they endowed glebe with spiritualism. Gnome's figures were earth and wood. The natural individual perceived selves in the natural objects.In the period of totemism, many life's forms were integrated, and gnome was half-man and half-beast, which reflected that the value of human rised and the natural individual gained support of low entity.
