| Porcelain is a marvelous invention of China, and a celadon is the earliest porcelain. From historical view, there is no doubt that the celadon of Korea and China is absolutely outstanding. The craftsmen of two countries have brought out glory of celadon together, and the culture of celadon is very famous all around world.There are many similar or different points between the art for celadon of these two countries. So it is supposed that we can not only recognize cultural characters and find out the origin of celadon, but also study traditional craft techniques, and finally conduct our craftworks through following historical footsteps of celadon, comparing the differences of their craft culture and studying their origin and mutual interaction. Zhejiang is one of the important producing place of Chinese celadon. The wares including Shangwu, Yue, Ou, Wuzhou, Mise, Longquan and Jiaoyunxiaguan are the part of great celadon system. The advanced skills of Yue ware have influenced on many other Chinese wares in direct or indirect ways. Longquan ware is included in Yue kiln. Since East Han dynasty have invented porcelain, Yue ware have been produced for a long time, but have been replaced by Longquan ware after North Song dynasty.In the history of Chinese ceramics, Longquan celadon have created the most glorious period of celadon. Longquan ware belongs a ware system of long-history and profound influence. Its fantastic craft and magnificent art is very famous in the world.The production age of Korea celadon is still on the debate in Korea. The theory of some Japanese archaeologists who believe Korean celadon have begun to produce about 933 A.D. was denied by later researches.In 1962, Korea National Museum began to investigate the sites of ceramic ware. Many scholars agreed to have to study the production age of Korea Celadon from new focus. In that time, the archaeological researches of Chinese and Japanese scholars on ceramic sites at their countries have given new basis for Korean scholars to confirm that their celadon had been produced in earlier period. Chinese and Korean celadon have got the important position in the history of ceramics and they are very closely related. But there are few studies focusing on comparison of celadon between these two countries. Comparison is a important way of understanding different cultures of foreign countries. It is obvious that we can not only understand counterpart, but also recognize ourselves deeply througth it.This thesis analyzes the origin and development of Chinese and Korean celadon, and the interactions and differences in craft skills and arts on the basis of comparison, so that let us recognize the craft features and national emotions of celadon culture. In the 9th century, the ceramic skills of Longquan ware in Zhejiang province of China have been introduced to Korea. And after, many Korean ceramic sites have adopted the Chinese style of Longquan ware. So the struction of furnace, the way of burning, the instruments and fuels for producing ceramics have become similar to China.
