1937-1946 was the complicated and dramatic historic period of the relationship between Kuo Min Tong (KMT) and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), which can be presented by the 10 years of painstaking negotiations. The contents not only covered almost all conflicts, but revealed the competitions in strength, status, intelligence and strategy between the two parties. This paper aims to focus on the negotiations in these 10 years through the following considerations: 1) The negotiation was the only way to maintain the work of the collaboration between two parties, and still revealed the complicated essence of their relationship; 2) The negotiation was the only way to solve the problems even today and its general features and principles should be deeply recognized and widely used; and 3) In this new era, the KMT has lost support in Taiwan, which weakened the effect on the collaboration. At present, Taiwan is manipulated by China Association for Promoting Democracy, advocating an independent Taiwan and the relationship between Taiwan and the mainland is in a deadlock. In this regard, the negotiation between KMT and CCP again will help to break the ice, and the study of it becomes significant both academically and politically.The paper of around 50,000 Chinese characters covers six parts including the introduction and the conclusion. The introduction mainly introduces the subject and the category, aiming to restrict the content discussed. The first part gives an overall view of the historical prerequisite for the negotiations during the second KMT-CCP collaboration.Based on the historical change of the negotiation issues and the situations at home and abroad, the second part first discusses the three stages of the negotiations; then analyses in detail the process of sixteen hard negotiations and last analyses their historical significance in maintaining the relationships between the two parties.
