Surveying the present situation of audiovisual translation of our country, we may find that excellent translation and inferior translation intermingle due to the confusion of audiovisual management. It seriously spoils the confidence of audience in a translator and also seriously hinders audience to enjoy the plot of foreign audiovisual works. Hence, we ought to be cognizant of the significance of audiovisual translation. At present, many problems exist in audiovisual translation. Mistranslation, leaking translation could be found here and there, especially in subtitle. Hence, it is very necessary and timely to study the audiovisual translation of foreign movies or TV programs.Through the study of a large number of audiovisual translations, this thesis presents an assumption of audiovisual translation variation, which is produced from the researches of audiovisual translation and translation variation, and which is expected to provide some effective help for the translators of audiovisual translation. Studying audiovisual translation, we can not ignore the constraint of audiovisual translation that "Synchronization" is the biggest constraint in audiovisual translation. According to the constraint, the author utilizes the seven means of translation variation to deal with the scripts of foreign audiovisual works. The author proposes that the translator analyses the script on the four linguistic levels based on one sentence as the unit of translation. The thesis aims to present a new approach to resolve the issue of audiovisual translation and to produce a good version of audiovisual translation. The bases of the author's assumption originate from five parts: Nida's functional equivalence, Hans Vermeer's Skopostheorie, Barkhudarove's unit of translation, four linguistic levels, and the constraint of audiovisual translation, which is the most primordial basis of audiovisual translation variation.
