Research Of Businessman Estate In The Northeast Region In Late Qing

In Late Qing, after unchaining the ban of entry, especially after YingKou being a treatyport, the business of the Northeast region entered the new development stage. Not only thenumber of the businessman estate increased, but also the social influence of them wasstronger than before. The thesis aims to generalize the character of the businessman estate ofthe Northeast region in Late Qing as a whole. By analyzing the reason the businessman estategrowing up, and doing research on their social role, axiology, personality characteristics andmanagement characteristics. First, this thesis analyzes the business development condition in the Northeast region inLate Qing. Before unchaining the ban of entry, the main reason that the development of thebusiness of the Northeast region fell behind is terrible circulating conditions. The number ofthe businessman was few and the power of them was weak. Most businessmen were ecdemic.Along with unchaining the ban of entry, the inburst of immigrant brought along thedevelopment of agriculture and a mass of superfluous farm produce provided the founditionfor the development of business. On the other hand, the extending of traffic meshwork andrising of town provided the excellent circumstance for the development of business. Moreover,the policy of encouraging businessmen which was promulgated by the central governmentwas an important factor. Because of being stimulated by these factors, the business of theNortheast region developed very fast. The durative increase of business enterprises, abundantcommodities and the boom of foreign trade were the embodiments of this development. Second, this thesis analyzes the social role of the businessman in the Northeast regionin Late Qing. Considering from social composing,:ecdemic businessmen, autochthonicbusinessmen, immigrant and minority businessmen composed this social estate. Authoranatomizes this estate and uses the ways that businessmen adopted in management,businessmen's resident region, the relationship between businessmen and bureaucracy andmanagement content as rules to divide this estate into different types. In the same type, authorcolligate social rule and economic rule in order to divide different layers. When the authoranalyzes the businessmen's social relationship, five clues are considered: relationshipsbetween businessmen and local government, local people, minority in border land , foreignbusinessmen and foreign aggressors. Finally, this thesis analyzes the businessmen's axiology, personality characteristics andmanagement characteristics. In their axiology, "justice" was the core, because they wereinfluenced by Confucian culture which was born in the central region. And the businessmen'spersonality characteristics came form the central region culture and the Northeast regionculture. The moral of businessmen's management was perfect, but the content of theirmanagement was timeworn, the fashions of their management were unenlightened. The meansthat they used in management were fusty and they were not willing to find out new ones.When businessmen distributed their gain, they always used it for investing glebe andalmsdeed.
