The study about Wang Guowei has become more and more popular in these twentyyears. There are varieties of systems, ways and views. And in this thesis, the author will makeWang Guowei back into the time of the origin of the Chinese modern esthetics and the literarytransform. Aesthetic thought of Wang Guowei plays a directing role to the estheticsdevelopment of China in the 20th century. This thesis will take on some of his basic aestheticconceptions by summing up his theory origin, and comment on the two types of aestheticcriticism. In the end, this thesis will conclude the learning conception and merit from the backof these critical practices. The thesis includes three parts. The first part focuses on Wang Guowei's aesthetics conception. We summarize the corepoint as: disinterested. This is the main idea that comes from western aesthetics. WangGuowei's liberal view on the theory of literary criticism arose mainly from his view ontranscultural learning. There is no difference of nationality. From the aesthetics conception tothe artistic conception and the literary conceptions, we can see clearly the super-utilitarian andpure literary criticism of Wang Guowei. Based on the core conception, the thesis willilluminate his main conception on aesthetic theory one by one. That is, the multi-category inaesthetic contemplation and formal view. The second part introduces Wang Guowei's literary criticism of fictions and ci. Most ofall , Wang Guowei thought out the aesthetic value of tragedy and established his ideal modeof literary criticism, that is jingjie which concludes aesthetic factor about feeling and sight ,detailed criticism standard , creation style and aesthetic feeling style. The third part mainly discusses Wang Guowei's critical method. His particular method isnot only under the guide of his aesthetics conception, but also the result of the transformationof his independent learning attitude and thinking mode. Wang Guowei has such talent that heconnected China with west, and carved out a new way for our contemporary critical practice.
