The Aesthetic Personality Theory Of Wang Guowei

Nowadays, with the rapid development of science、technology、economy and society in China, the people-oriented concept gradually becomes the consensus of the whole society and developing their harmonious personality becomes people’s goal. Thus, it becomes an important topic and challenge for aesthetic subject and aesthetic education to construct people’s harmonious personality.Mr. Wang is the torchbearer of modern aesthetic ideas, the founder of modern aesthetics and the earliest advocate of modern aesthetic education in China.In the early twentieth century, Mr. Wang faced with the situation of domestic strife and foreign aggression. From the standpoint of modernity, paying attention to Chinese spirit world, he blended the Chinese traditional aesthetics and modern western aesthetic essence to construct the modern aesthetic personality, in order to achieve "perfect character".This thesis is based on the comprehensive study of Mr. Wang’s aesthetic thoughts. We carefully analyze the theoretical foundation、connotation constructive method of aesthetic personality, trying to find out the logic of aesthetic personality.This paper comprises three parts. The first part is to summarize the theoretical basis of Aesthetic personality theory. Under the background of communion of Chinese and western culture, on one hand, Mr. Wang inherited traditional Chinese aesthetic essence, on the other hand, absorbed from Kant、Schiller、Schopenhauer、Nietzsche and other western modern aesthetics resources. Finally he established the modern aesthetic thought.The second part is about the theoretical connotation of Aesthetic personality. Mr. Wang laid foundation on his own life experience, aimed at the national spirit crisis, put forward independent、sincere and free aesthetic personality, with modern aesthetics thought as his guide,The third part is the constructive method of the aesthetic personality. Mr. Wang not only established the connotation of aesthetic personality theory, but also positively sought constructive way. People should make full use of aesthetic time with healthy hobbies, shape independent aesthetic personality with tragic art, cultural aesthetic personality with quaint literature to improve their spiritual level.Mr. Wang has broad vision and profound thought, leaves a rich thought treasure house for future generations. This thesis tries to compose the academic thesis with Mr. Wang’s excellent viewpoints, grasp the essence of aesthetic personality, with the hope of helping the construction of modern aesthetic personality.
