The Semiotics Research Of Graphic Design

The research of semiotics in the field of graphic design is a topic in forward position, which based on the methods of semiotics. Facing the rare achievement about the subject above in our country, this paper act as a new try on the research of graphic design theory. It is based on semiotics method, classic theories of Phenomenology and Acception Aesthetics, the dissertation discusses the graph construction and the regular pattern of visual design. It is an exploration to graphic design. The purpose is exploring new space to graphic design with the idea of semiotics, contributing to the research of graphic design and providing a kind of theory resources and thinking methods. Except preface and conclusion, this paper is developed from six aspects. The second part researches the graphic design languages such as letters, graphes, colours and so on, which act as phenomena of symbols. The third analyses the characteristic of design semiotics basing on the construction of formation, function, feature and meaning. The next part analyses the regular pattern from the research of formation to development and exchanging, which makes use of the formation of meaning on literature works. The later part analyses the core of semiology in graphic design, the transmittance of chief meanings, and expression of auxiliary symbol and background meanings by the research of symbol and sense of works. It also points out the imagine of sense's copy possibility. The sixth part analyses the use of symbols in design through the analyses of main design fields. The seventh part of the paper researches the basic standards of graphic design from the research of symbol's construction, meaning and use, analyses the meaning of semiotics to graphic design, and its trend in the future.
