Transformation And Literature Value Of Liuzi Drama In Late Qing Dynasty And The Republic Of China

Liuzi drama is a kind of local drama which was once popular among Su, Lu, Yu, Wan and Ji-five provinces. This drama was once flourishing during the Late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China, however, now it nearly disappears. Stage play is becoming the main stream of dramas in China, meanwhile Literature fields neglects the study of position, features, literature value and transformation of local dramas including Liuzi under the modern and contemporary literature context. Taking Liuzi as an example, the author collects and analyzes the newly compiled historical dramas and raw materials about ancient plays so that we can find the reasons and representations of modern transformation on Liuzi, what's more, refining the literature value. All we do on these is to return to modern literature history.The first chapter deals with general collections of Liuzi drama in Late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China according to current historical materials, additionally paying attention to reasons and prosperity of Liuzi in Heze. A family tree of Liuzi from opium war to New China will be presented to us.The second chapter dwells on five concrete representations of modern transformations from Liuzi: humanism, modern sense, town customs, merchant description, tragic sense trend, pursuit of reality and literature trend and structural modernization. The author's research shows that Liuzi drama is a symbol of capitalism in town literature prosperity, which stimulated the demands of agriculture in Yellow River area and canal area. Therefore a conclusion is that developing local dramas means respecting the law of drama.The third chapter is talking about traditional and newly compiled and modern dramas of transformations from Liuzi. I analyzed the 68 varieties of General Compiled Local Dramas in Shandong. Liuzi under the modern and contemporary literature context. These varieties, according to humanism, can be divided into 7 macro-dramas and 26 minor-dramas including humor, trick, humanism, ethics, women rights and philosophy.The fourth chapter is to re-divided the Liuzi and to make literature analysis on thesestory plays. Liuzi was popular in Late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China because of writing arts and dangling skills and deep meaning and word choice which brought the public fresh air.Liuzi drama is an ancient play but is a modern play; it will have a bright future for its literature value and culture value in literature history.
