Mo Yan--Troubadour Among The People

In the developing process of Chinese Contemporary Literature of nearly 20 years, Mo Yan is an important existence. It is common to understand his works with the folk theory. This paper doesn't intend to go on high theory by pestering on " folk " the pure abstract concept but considers Mo Yan one literature phenomenon by regarding " folk " as illuminating rational thinking. The outline of this paper goes as follows: First, it explores the reality of his specific spirit and the complex relationship with the land and surmounting the land which is based on the writer's basic creating origin from the creational and psychological angle. Second, it interprets the creational idea" as writing of common people " and the possibility of slipping into doctrinaires. Third, paying lose attention to the "free" vitality is Mo Yan's folk aesthetic orientation. Fourth, it reverts various popular culture shapes and touches the so-called " sheltering evil people and countenance evil practices" phenomenon which shows his identification of the vulgarity culture. The conclusion is that among native country folk unrestrained realistic culture space, Mo Yan creates folk aesthetic space of a lifelike free art.
