The study, upon the refugee matter in the Inner Mongolia area during the last period of Qing dynasty, is one of the most important research topics in the domain of the social sciences. It is not a narrative history, but a research in depth on social matters, which is commanded by problems. Using the analytic methods from many subjects and angles, the thesis textually researches the historical materials and then puts forward some viewpoints upon the research topic. The body consists of four chapters, approximately 58,000 words. The introduction explains the selected topic and its significance, the present condition of the research, the basic historical materials and the analytic methods. The first chapter briefly introduces the concepts of "refugee" and "immigrant", and then analyses and determines the nature of the population who flew into the Inner Mongolia area during Qing dynasty. The second section of this chapter textually researches the historical materials and poses: the population, after bringing the Inner Mongolia area under cultivation, is not "immigrant" but "refugee". From three angles such as the refugee emergence, the flowing direction and the refugee acceptation, the second chapter inquires into the causes for the refugees in the Inner Mongolia during the last period of Qing dynasty. The chapter vetoes the opinion: "Concentration of landholdings is the origin of refugees in modern times." It puts forward some new views from many levels. The third chapter expounds: the refugee society gradually adapted itself to the Inner Mongolia area after colliding and getting in touch with the Mongolian society. The refugee society set up a cluster mechanism that was based upon culture embedding, interest clustering and developing balance.
