From 'Dunwu' To 'Miaowu'

'Miaowu' , as the important concept of Chinese ancient aesthetics, is originated from 'Dunwu' of Chan. Just because of this, the scholars in all ages stress on the similarities of them, and even regard them as the same. So they neglect the basic difference that they belong to different fields. In fact, from 'Dunwu' of Chan to 'Miaowu' of Art is a process of choice, a transferring from religion or philosophy thought to art thought. In Chinese Aesthetics history, it is also a great transferring of Chinese art thought under the influence of Chan thought. As we all know, in every field, the transferring of thinking way is the most fundamental reason of thought revolution. So the process is of invaluable significance in the whole Chinese aesthetics history.Through comparing and analyzing of the two concepts transversely and lengthways, and tracing the theoretical resource of 'Miaowu' , the thesis tries to describe the proceed from 'Dunwu' of Chan to 'Miaowu' of Art, furthermore, it probes into the innate line and historic clue from Chan thought to art thought.
