On The Characteristic Of The Inner Contradictions Of The Novels Of Luyao

More than ten years has passed, and the vitality of the novels of Luyao has greatly surpassed all the other contemporary works for its positive, aggressive and vigorous inner spirits. The praises given by critics mainly focused on the following aspects: the contribution to Realism, the characteristic of epic, the Crossed Zone of city and countryside, the consciousness of agony, the complex of home village affection, deep consciousness of social responsibility and historic mission etc. Up to now, the study on Luyao has been fruitful, but the characteristic of the inner contradiction has never been thoroughly revealed.In my opinion, there are at least four groups of contradictions in his works, including the inconsistency of love and marriage, antagonistic relation between city and rural place, good persons but bad fate almost without exception, and to hope female has both the conventional merits and the modern personalities simultaneously and the like.We should say that there were many reasons for formation of the characteristic of contradiction. And my dissertation will analyze them in two aspects.Firstly, the thinking and the experience of Luyao affected his works heavily. The inconsistency between his conventional ideas and his modern thinking especially lies in two aspects. On one hand, the contradictions between Self-sacrifice and self-pursuing directly cause the ambivalence towards female and the tragedy of good persons. On the other hand the contradictions between the aggressive outlook on life and the farmer thinking lead to the conflicts of land leaving and land staying. Luyao's life was full of frustration. The psychological wound made in his childhood resulted in the highly praise for village women and the indifference to city women, but at the same time he also admitted some unique merits and charm of city women. And he had undergone the life of town and rural places and this experience brought about many contradictions and conflicts in his novels.Secondly, the effect and pursuing of Realism resulted in displaying the social contradictions and conflicts objectively in Luyao's works.Most of all, Luyao was deeply influenced by the spirit of Realism. And at the same time, during the course of growing up and in his writing career, the works of Realism of Russia, ex-USSR and France had shadowed him greatly. Just because of the above reasons, Luyao would stick to the principles of Realism to display the complex contradictions and conflicts in people's life in specified time and peculiar circumstance. But we should say that Luyao had not realized the existence of the characteristic of contradictions, which lies in his works thoroughly and consciously. And to display them was not his rational and subjective demand. While his big success just came out of it, and it helped people see how Luyao deepened the creation of novels of Realism of Chinese contemporary literature.But if we see his works from the angle of text criticism, Luyao is hardly an excellent writer, because he merged too much his own experience and factors into his creation, for his creation can only reflect a small period of the spirit history of Chinese countryside. And in a sense, his novels also limit and interfere the reading of the readers. And finally, Luyao's writing is still restricted by the real life and tied up by his own ability and skills of writing, and these keep him from achieving more aesthetic value in a longer time and an ampler space. And I think the value and the position of the novels of Luyao will continuously receive severe selection and criticism from history of Chinese contemporary literature.
