"The Literary Mind and The Carving of Dragons" is a Chinese ancient writing monograph. The criticism in "The Literary Mind and The Carving of Dragons" had begun in Tang Dynasty and the peak was in Ming and Qing Dynasty. Ji Yun's criticism was representative, although which was fragmentary, his writing creative theory can be summarized. This thesis processed the criticism on the aspect of writing theory. The thesis consisted of three sections: index epigraph, text and peroration. The part of index epigraph introduced biographical notes of Ji Yun and his criticism in "The Literary Mind and The Carving of Dragons" generally. The part of text comprised content and form, heredity and innovation, literature and person, which are important composition in the writing theory in Chinese ancient literature.Ji Yun's thinking of content and form were influenced by Liu Xie's. Although lack of original understanding out of the common, he was deserved to achieve.Thousands of year process was filled with wisdom and literary development in China, and its essence was "heredity" and "innovation". Lots of expositions of literature theorists in history were brilliant and dialectical. But Ji's criticism was super to the others at that age, which was significant both in guidance and practice for literary creative writing today. On the relationship between literature and person, Ji Yun followedtraditional theoretical thinking-"the writing mirrors the writer", but it is hard to come by that, he didn't make it absolute and simplify it. He provided a new point of "the writing doesn't mirror the writer sometimes", its meaning reflected the aspect of contribution to literary creative writing and writing theories. The part of peroration analyzed the Ji's thinking about literary origination.
