Based on first-hand up-to-date materials, this thesis first analyzes the phenomenon that Huizhou merchants paid great attention to family education in term of Ming-Qing dynasty, and explains the reason for it. Then the thesis probes into some problems about Huizhou merchants' family education. It points out that Huizhou merchants not only emphasized teaching the younger generation moral norms and culture knowledge, but also stressed on training them how to engage in trade. Moreover, it sums up the method of Huizhou merchants' family education such as: teaching by personal example as well as verbal instruction; teaching alternated with tender and strict; teaching according to what the children were good at, and etc. In addition, it unveils and elaborates the four features of Huizhou merchants' family education. The first is laying stress on self-reliance education. The second is utilizing fully the affect of women in family education. The third is combining inseparably with patriarchal clan education of Huizhou area. The fourth is their guiding thought having made a great progress. At last, the thesis makes an overall appraisal of the influence of Huizhou merchants' family education.
