The New Study On "Zhong Yuan Ya Yin"

Zhong Yuan Ya Yin is a rhyming dictionary recording the northern time sound ,which not only record the true northern sound ,but also conserves sortie interpretation materials of that time about below-standard forms of characters and words ,and makes a good complement to Zhong Yuan Yin Yun, which is a very important works about northern time Han Language.Most of the materials are taken in only from Yun Xue Ji Cheng by linguists. Therefore, some basic problems with the research on Zhong Yuan Ya Yin haven't been well solved so far due to the lack of materials. New materials, which are very significant in research and study. The author provides a new idea to further study on the basis of the old and new materials, and then does a systematic research on Zhong Yuan Ya Yin. Chapter I: This chapter mainly discusses four aspects:I Introductions to the research significance of Zhong Yuan Ya Yin.II Summarizations and analysis of the present research on Zhong Yuan Ya Yin in the six ways . Introductions to the materials on researching Ya Yin.IV Clarifications to the ways of thinking and methods on Ya Yin research.Firstly, we decide the stylistic rules and layout, then, compile, "restore" and finally analyze phonetic systems. In literature sense compiling, proofreading and distinguishing between true and falsehood. In linguistic sense :making full use of computers to do data processing, statistic, generalized comparative and analytic works.Chapter II:This chapter mainly discusses two aspects.I Introductions to research of stylistic rule and layout.II The decision of stylistic rules and layout :Firstly, Bian Yin Zhuan Yao has been found .which is a good prove. The value of Bian Yin Zhuan Yao is to decide the rhyme classes of Ya Yin. Secondly, Zhong Yuan Ya Yin is a rhyming dictionary which belongs to Zhong Yuan Yin Yun. Thirdly,the arrange principles of Ya Yin including the arrangement of the tone of Chinese charactersand the inter arrangement of small rhythm.Chapter III:This chapter mainly discusses two aspects, one of which is about compiling problems in Ya Yin. The first, The proofreading mistakes which are made because of different editions and copying. The second, the collecting features of Ya Yin which are discussed in three senses: rarely used characters, nonstandard forms of characters and a variant form of a Chinese character. The third, sound diversities are discussed on the basis of the materials of Zhong Yuan Ya Yin which are quoted in Yun Shu Ji Cheng and Qian Zi Wen ,for differences between the complex characters and the brief characters in Ya Yin ,a variant from of Chinese characters and "Yi" take in Qian Zi Wen. The fourth, Boundary problems between Ya Yin and reports of Yun Shu Ji Cheng .The fifth, Interpretation features and origin in Zhong Yuan Ya Yin materials which are quoted from Qian Zi Wen.The other is to "restore" Ya Yin according to the stylistic rules and layout and compiling materials.Chapter IVThis chapter mainly discusses three aspects which are initials of syllables, finals of syllables and tones . The first part is the analysis of initials of syllables. Above all, we analyzed the system of initials of syllables Ya Yin and reached a conclusion that it had the following six characteristics:The first, transformation into voiceless of complete voicedinitials of syllables;The second, Independence of light sound "wei".The third, disappearance of light sound "yi".The fourth, derivation of a initial of "n" from some no-light-sound.The fifth, confluence of three initial groups of zhi, zhuang , zhang.The sixth, combination of initials of "ni" and "niang".Then we drew up a table of initials of syllables according to the analysis and we determined that Ya Yin had twenty initials of syllables. The second part is the analysis of initials of syllables.
