The plots of great works often contains contradictory proposition, which doesn't offer us a definite conclusion, instead, it thrills the readers to experience the works and arouse the readers instinct to explore the contradictions. Such contradictions may also be vague to the writer himself. What they want is to unearth the contradictions inherited by the human beings, to tell us the perpetual tragedy that cannot be solved forever. Face to face with such unavoidable tragedy, you can never find a best solution. The unavoidable tragedy is the great tragedy that we should face. The dilemma here doesn't mean the vagueness concept for the author himself, but for the indefinite deeper endoplasm which can be explained in different ways. The greatness of Hemingway's works lies in the extension of our horizons of thinking. The mature of heroes in Hemingway's works is not finished in one day. Although his heroes have the qualities that an ordinary person unpossessed , they have few successful experience in their life. In the mean time, these heroes try to hide the flaw in their personalities: confusion and weakness. And that might be the reason why Hemingway requires his heroes to be enterprising, pioneering and creating so as to help the readers to find the motivation in life.
