Though the materials on Bao Hui's poetics are not plentiful, the contents of Bao Hui's poetics are still comprehensive. Bao Hui widely assimilated the theories on artistic world since the Tang Dynasty. Besides the two characters of the artistic world: tension and transcendence, he supplemented and emphasized the artistic world was a whole. At the same time, he vividly generalized two kinds of manifestations of the artistic world. Coming into the Song Dynasty, the focus which the poetics attended to transferred from the characters of the artistic world to the creation of it, the relevant poetics on the creation and the poets' self-cultivation got great development. Bao Hui inherited the former opinions that the literature creation happened when poets were touched by something. He also supplied that the poets made poems to express the feelings of nature.During the states of the two origins of the poems, he showed double attentions to the beauty and the sincerity of poems. Furthermore, hebreached the traditional theories on poets' self-cultivation. From four aspects: truth, will, trueness, independence, he comprehensively discussed the question about the poets' self-cultivation and offered a set of idiographic, also feasible scheme for poets to improve their self-cultivation.By it's comprehensivity and profundity, Bao Hui's poetics makesgreat contributions to the Chinese poetics. The New Confucianism transfixes all his poetics and the Taosim obviously affects his poetics on the creation. Thus, the contribution that Bao Hui had made to the Chinese poetics indirectly shows the active influence of the Confucianism and the Taoism, especially the New Confucianism to the Chinese poetics. At the same time, Bao Hui's poetics shows many similarities with Yan Yu's and Yuan Haowen's poetics, which are approximately contemporary with Bao Hui's. On one hand, these similarities show the common influence of the New Confucianism, on the other hand, it reveals a trend of the poetics at that time, that is, on the question how to create the artistic world, the focus that poetics in the Song Dynasty concerned on has shifted form how to make the forms of poems beautiful to how to make poems transcend the beauty of the forms and arrive at a higher level. All in all, to ruminate the significance of the New Taoism to the Chinese poetics, to establish the status of the indigenous culture in the origin of the artistic world and even to understand the trend of thedevelopment on the poetics in the Song Dynasty, Bao Hui's poetics all has an active sense.
