Nantang's Literature And Culture Thought

In Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period , NanTang was a special country. When the Central Plains experienced wars, NanTang was peaceful. The Central Plains economy declined while NanTang' s was prosperous . The culture in Central Plains failed but NanTang developed greatly . The frequent chaos leaded most countries of that time governed by warriors . The Central Plains governors despised literati and the literati couldn' t safeguard themselves. At that time most north literati fleed to south, the north literary circles were quiet. NanTang was an official government. NanTang' s governors' literature quality were high. They treated the literati specially. Lots of north literati come to NanTang ,thus NanTang had many talents. In the comfortable circumstance, NanTang' s literati formed distinct personality. These phenomena made NanTang have special features.Five Dynasties are between Tang Dynasty and Song Dynasty which were the periods of great literatural prosperity. This period is transitional , so the development of literature also had transitional characters. Nantang' s literature are the delegate of Five Dynasties' literature, for the works number and achivement.It had the obvious transitional effect between Tang and Song. When the Nantang' s governors developed the economy, they also emphasized the culture construction. The developing culture of Nantang deeply affect Nantang' s literature and the posterity.The thesis includes three parts.The first part elaborates the whole background of FiveDynasties, discussing the political, economical .cultural features of NanTang and analyzing the loose and comfortable psychology of NanTang' s scholars.The second part discusses NanTang' s literature' s state. This part is divided into three parts: poem, lyrics and essay.The author tries to analyzes the deep cultural reason of this literatural state.The third part thinks about the whole Nantang' s literature by culture ,tires to locate Nantang' s literature. Comparing with Xishu , the author emphasizes Nantang' s literate worth.Reviewing the whole Five Dynasties' literature , the author concludes that Nantang' s literature is the delegate of Five Danasties literature. From culture development , the author proves that Nantang' s literature inherited from Tang Dynasty and enlighted Song Dynasty.
