"Bel Canto", "national singing" and "pop singing", "three ways of singing" for short, these three ways of singing are adopted since 1980s so as to unify the evaluation standard in vocal singing match in our music field. "Three ways of singing" is a kind of cultural phenomenon existing objectively, which is the accordingly newly born product along with the development of society since the opening policy. Its appearance and development own a certain kind of historical necessity beyond human wills. Simultaneously the appearance of this cultural phenomenon is determined by both the internal and the external factors, among which the evolution of social politics and economics, the habit of appreciating music, the difference of aesthetic culture and the social psychology of the common, and so on, are key factors in promoting such a cultural phenomenon.This thesis sees as the study object "three ways of singing", taking the culturology as the starting-point, illustrates the historical background of this classification of "three ways of singing" and summarizes its contending focus and the nature.This thesis consists of four parts.The first part is the contention of singing in different periods of our contemporary and modern history. Starting with three historical periods: before, and after the establishment of the country, and since the opening policy, this part describes the types of singings existing in each period.The second part is the cultural analysis of the factprs of "three ways of singing". This part, beginning with each factor of "three ways of singing", has a cultural analysis of "three ways of singing" from the evolution of social politics and economics, the habit of appreciating music, the difference of aesthetic culture and the social psychology of the common, proving the influence of such factors to the classification of "three ways of singing".The third part is the contention in society. This part has a thorough study of thecontention in society caused by "three ways of singing tending to uncover the focus and the nature of this contention.The fourth part is the objective evaluation of "three ways of singing". This part has a comparatively objective evaluation of such a classification on the basis of the summary of the first three parts. "Three ways of singing" is a kind of cultural phenomenon. A thorough study of this phenomenon is helpful to the development of the vocal singing field, and offers some beneficial references to it as well.
