Musical Relics Found In Henan Province And Their Historical Values

This thesis focuses on the musical relics found in Henan province. Based on the classification and analysis of the musical relics found and concerning historical and cultural documents and materials, the author studies the main features of the various musical relics unearthed in Henan, analyzing their specific merits in Chinese musical history and .even the whole Chinese cultural history, thus provides a panorama of Henan musical relics and better our understanding of their historical value.The thesis consists of three chapters.In chapter one, Introduction to Henan Musical Relics, the author sifts, classifies, counts and analyzes the musical relics of different times in history found in Henan, and sums up basis information from a historical point of view.In chapter two, Cultural Characteristics of Henan Musical Relics from Different Period in History, the author places, on the basis of the first chapter, these relics under their specific cultural background, analyzes their concerning cultural and historical remains and documents, and then elaborates the cultural characteristics of various periods embodied in them.In chapter three, Historical Values of Henan Musical Relics, the author regards the relics as a regional historical material system, studying them with the method of comparing and verifying them with existing historical documents and materials. The relics are compared, verified in a bigger academic background of the Chinese musical history, and their merits in verifying, correcting and complementing the existing history are evaluated..This thesis, though based on the achievements of preceding historian, is the first one ever researched on Henan Musical Relics and their historical merits. Its merit is not only embodied in its study of Henan musical relics itself, but also its classification, comparison and analysis of the concerning historical documents and materials. Furthermore, the thesis sums up the existing relics, analyzes their cultural values, andevaluates their historical merits. The major achievements attained in this thesis are further elaborated in the last chapter, Conclusion.
