It is natural for human being to seek and obtain their lives' security. From ancient times, man began to find the effective measures for reliefing disasters. China with a long history and culture existed the thoughts and policies of social security which prevented the farmers from suffering calamities, elderly or lack of labor ability and were carried out in economic activities in each dynasty. This thesis has chosen the social security policies of Ming Dynasty as study subjects, which is directed by Marxist historical theory and entirely made use of history, economy, sociology and social security. By analyzing the heredity and reform of the policies of sending relief to famine areas, honoring the old, ensuring the single-poor-paralytic and favoring the wounded generals or soldiers, we could recognize social security system in Ming Dynasty and reappraise its historical function, furthermore, and learn the entirety and the reasonableness during Ming Dynasty' social security policy being put into practice and the specialty in that historical environment.
